Subject: Supporting our nation's Wounded Veterans with Mortgage-Free homes

This email is being sent to all the Military Order of the Purple Hearts around Mississippi in order to reach the most of you and most of our veterans.
My name is John Hill and I represent the Military Warriors Support Foundation, a 501c3 (MWSF) based in San Antonio, Texas. We award mortgage-free homes to combat wounded veterans injured during service to our country. In addition to the home, the families will receive 3 years of family and financial mentoring.
We have awarded just over 620 homes to our wounded heroes and Gold Star Spouses. Just over 1100 adults and 1,000 children are in the homes we have awarded to our Heroes.
I am reaching out to you because we have a Mortgage-Free home in Waveland, Mississippi. Completely mortgage-free, no strings attached. It is for our veterans who have gave the most for our country and for those surviving spouses who lost their Hero to combat.
The home can be found here on our website: http://militarywarriors.org/homes/ms008-waveland/
I have included a PDF flyer for the home, that is interactive. So if a person clicks on a photo of the home or other elements in the PDF, it will take them to our website or the proper corresponding links.
Who Can Apply:
  1. Must be a combat wounded veteran (Purple Heart recipient given priority) or unmarried Gold Star Spouse from any American conflict. Wounds must be a result of combat or combat training during any American conflict.
  2. Must be honorably retired or separated from the military.
  3. Must not currently have a mortgage.

FW: Legislative Update, Tuesday, 10 February

Subject: Fwd: FW: Legislative Update, Tuesday, 10 February

Floor Activity:  The House will consider four bills under a suspension of the rules, to include HR 810, the FY15 NASA authorization bill.  Yesterday the Senate voted 92-0 to confirm Michael Botticelli as the next Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.   There are no Senate votes scheduled for today.
Homeland Security Appropriations.  Senate Majority Leader McConnell will likely seek a fourth cloture vote this week on HR 240, the Homeland Security Appropriations bill.  It is expected to fail again.  Some suggest McConnell's strategy is not to wear down the Democrats but to show the House Republicans that their version will never succeed.  This may give Speaker Boehner some leverage in negotiating with House conservatives to fashion a compromise bill in the House; however, most observers expect another CR for DHS.  A worse case scenario is a series of short term CRs for the rest of the fiscal year. (CQ)
Carter Confirmation The SASC is expected today to favorably report Ash Carter for the SECDEF position.   Chairman McCain wants the full Senate to confirm him this week before it departs on a week long recess. (CQ, Politico)
Israeli PM Address.  Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has accepted an invitation to address a joint session of Congress on 3 March.  The focus of his remarks will be on Iran and its nuclear program. (CQ)
